Batman: Return to Arkham Given New Release Date, Side-By-Side Trailer Released

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announce Batman: Return to Arkham will launch on October 21 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was previously scheduled to be available on July 26, but was delayed to give developer Virtuous Games more time.

As previously detailed, Return to Arkham includes remastered versions of Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. All post-launch DLC released for both games will be included in the package.

Along with the announcement of a new release date, Warner has also published a video showing the original versions of the Arkham games alongside their remastered versions. The new versions of Asylum and City are running on Unreal Engine 4, while the originals were developed using Unreal Engine 3.

Virtuous previous worked on Heavy Rain's PS4 version and contributed toUncharted 4: A Thief's End. Additionally, the company created assets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The first two Batman Arkham games garnered near-unanimous praise from critics. GameSpot's Arkham Asylum review said:"everything about this game--the impressive visuals, stirring soundtrack, superb voice acting, fiendish puzzles, hard-hitting combat--feels like it has been lovingly crafted by a development team that's both knowledgeable and passionate about the source material."

Arkham City was also rated highly: "From the speedy exhilaration of soaring high above the streets to the atmospheric thrill of discovering long-forgotten secrets in the tunnels below Gotham, this is an unforgettable adventure that will keep you coming back to the cape and cowl long after you've seen the credits roll."

The latest Batman console game was Batman: Arkham Knight. It came out in June 2015 and has reportedly sold 5 million copies. It was also developed by Rocksteady, and is apparently the last Batman game from the studio.
